About Us

From operating out of a Mini Storage, to becoming a Southeast Distributor; This is the story of a Third Generation, Sibling-Owned, Lake Lanier Business

In 1971, our Grandpa, Ed, moved his family from Chicago to Lake Lanier. He was a lifelong innovator and built the county’s very first mini storage across from Shady Grove Road, a peninsula surrounded by the lake. One day, a salesman dropped by and asked if he’d be interested in putting a few dock floats out front to see if they would sell. Grandpa agreed – and just like that, a little idea floated into something much bigger. The floats were a hit, and soon after, J&L Dock Supplies was born right out of Adma Mini Storage. J&L stood for Ed’s children: Jay and Liz.

Liz built a home next door to her parents and raised her three children on the lake she loved. When Colleen, her daughter, broke her femur, Liz left her career to care for her and took over the family business. With a sharp eye for opportunity and a deep love for the lake lifestyle, Liz grew J&L into one of Shoremaster’s top dealerships, distributing high-quality boat lifts, jet ski ports, and dock accessories across the region.

By 2017, Liz was eager to retire and wind things down. But her son Patrick, then wrapping up his business degree at Ole Miss, saw a different future. Between classes, he started building out the company’s first full inventory catalog. At the same time, Colleen brought her decade of experience in legal, medical, media, and tech industries to the table, helping her little brother launch a bold new chapter of the family business.

Together, Patrick and Colleen founded Southeastern Dock Supply with a mission to modernize the business while staying true to the roots Grandpa Ed planted decades earlier.

As demand grew, so did our team and services. We moved beyond just retail, helping with installations, dock repairs, and even a few custom dock builds. In a full-circle moment, Patrick partnered with Anthony from Shoreline Floating Docks—someone the family had known for years and who had been a loyal customer since Liz and Ed’s era. Their merger brought together Anthony’s decades-long deep industry knowledge, time-tested craftsmanship, and a shared commitment to dock building excellence.

In 2019, we moved out of the mini-storage and into our first warehouse on Bethel Road. By 2022, we settled into our permanent home at 3764 Browns Bridge Road—growing our team of dedicated dock pros and purchasing and stocking products in bulk to pass on discounts to our customers!

Today, Southeastern Dock Supply proudly serves DIYers, dock builders across the Southeast, and lake homeowners who just want their happy place to be perfect. Our team is deeply knowledgeable, always ready to help, and endlessly passionate about quality, service, and innovation.

At the heart of everything we do is one simple promise:
