Southeastern Dock Supply began with a few dock floats set out front of a Lake Lanier mini storage in 1971. Three generations later, our family supplies, installs, repairs and builds docks across the Southeast, and we still run it the way Grandpa Ed did.
OUR STORY
Three Generations on Lake Lanier
1971
In 1971 our Grandpa Ed moved his family from Chicago to Lake Lanier and built the county’s first mini storage on a peninsula across from Shady Grove Road. One day a salesman asked if he would put a few dock floats out front, just to see whether they sold. They sold. J&L Dock Supplies was born right out of Adma Mini Storage, named for Ed’s children, Jay and Liz. That is how a Lake Lanier mini storage grew into a Southeast distributor.
The J&L Years
Liz built a home next door to her parents and raised her three children on the lake she loved. When her daughter Colleen broke her femur, Liz left her career to care for her and took over the family business. With a sharp eye for opportunity and a deep love of the lake, she grew J&L into one of Shoremaster’s top dealerships, supplying boat lifts, jet ski ports and dock accessories across the region.
2017
By 2017 Liz was ready to retire. Her son Patrick, finishing a business degree at Ole Miss, saw a different future and started building the company’s first full inventory catalog between classes. Colleen brought a decade in legal, medical, media and tech, and together they founded Southeastern Dock Supply, modernizing the business while keeping the roots Grandpa Ed planted. Soon after, Patrick partnered with Anthony of Shoreline Floating Docks, a family friend and loyal customer since Ed and Liz’s era, adding decades of dock building craftsmanship to the team.
Today
We moved out of the mini storage and into our first warehouse on Bethel Road in 2019, then into our permanent home at 3764 Browns Bridge Road in 2022. We stock in bulk so we can pass the savings on, and our team of dock pros serves DIYers, dock builders across the Southeast, and lake homeowners who just want their happy place to be perfect.
